RIDING LEVELS SUITABLE FOR CAMPS

Camps are suitable for beginners through to children who can walk, trot or canter independently. We have other opportunities for more experienced riders. If siblings or friends wish to come to a camp together and one is more advanced we can accomodate that.

COACH / RIDER RATIO

Our camps are limited to just 8 children with 2 coaches so that we can ensure everyone has a quality learning experience at the level that's right for them, the support they need, and lots of fun. We'll break the campers into two groups for most activities but bring them all together for a few fun ones. Friends and siblings are welcome to stay together in the same group, otherwise groups tend to be dived into a younger and older.

WER WEATHER

We have plenty of shelter, including a covered riding area, stables, barn and hay shed, so camps will go ahead if it rains.

FLEXIBLE LEARNING

We encourage children to participate in all activities, however no one is forced to do anything they feel uncomfortable about. We have enough staff and quiet spaces for children to do an alternative activity for a while, if helpful. As an inclusive riding school, we use a range teaching techniques so that everyone can learn in the way that's best for them.

WE PROVIDE

  • helmets if required

  • water and fruit for breaks

  • sunblock

YOU NEED TO SUPPLY

  • a helmet if you have one

  • a hat for sun protection when not working directly with a pony

  • sturdy, enclosed boots with a small heel (no runners, gumboots or sandals for riding)

  • jodhpurs, riding tights or comfortable pants with a stretch (no slippery active wear)

  • if it's wet gumboots, raincoats and a change of clothes

  • gloves can make working with hay more comfortable

OUTCOMES

Our programs support campers to develop with riding, ground work and horse management skills. They also build interpersonal skills such as listening, empathy, resilience, team skills, emotional moderation, giving and receiving instructions, and team work.

Children leave our camps having had great fun, met new people, made new friends and with great memories.

PHONE POLICY

All parents will be provided with a phone number should they wish to check how their child is throughout the day. Children may bring phones but they will be collected when they arrive and returned when they leave.
