FURTHER INFORMATION
Empowering Me is a small-group experiential workshop designed to help teenagers develop confidence, emotional regulation and clear communication through structured groundwork with horses.
This program offers young people the opportunity to step outside the pace of everyday life and learn through direct experience. In a grounded, real-world setting, participants practise steadiness, clarity and leadership in ways that are immediately visible and felt.
Working alongside horses provides honest, moment-to-moment feedback. As teenagers learn to regulate their energy and communicate with intention, the horse responds. This process reinforces self-trust, emotional steadiness and confidence that doesn't rely on external approval.
What Participants Develop
Through structured groundwork with horses, teenagers strengthen:
• Confidence and self-efficacy
• Emotional regulation and mindfulness
• Clear, respectful communication
• Calm leadership skills
• Curiosity and reflective awareness
While every teenager’s journey is individual, parents often observe increased steadiness, greater self-awareness and improved communication extending into school, friendships and family life.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this workshop suitable for?
This workshop is suited to teenagers who would benefit from developing greater confidence, emotional steadiness and communication skills in a supportive, structured environment. No prior horse experience is required.
Is this therapy?
No. Empowering Me is not a therapeutic or clinical service. It is an experiential learning program that develops practical life skills through structured groundwork with horses.
Is it safe?
Yes. All sessions are conducted on the ground (no riding involved) in small groups under experienced supervision. We work with calm, well-handled horses, and safety procedures are clearly explained and demonstrated at the beginning of each session.
Why Horses?
Horses evolved as prey animals whose survival depended on their ability to read subtle cues, regulate themselves within a group and respond clearly to leadership.
They are highly attuned to body language, emotional state and intention. When a young person approaches with calm clarity, the horse responds honestly. If communication is unclear, the feedback is immediate.
This creates a powerful learning environment. Teenagers practise self-awareness, emotional regulation and respectful leadership in real time — not as abstract concepts, but as lived experience.
